Conserv asked to teach Conservation Real Estate to Blue Ridge Association of REALTORS

Conserv has been contacted by the Blue Ridge Area Association of REALTORS (BRAAR) to teach a class on Conservation Real Estate in September.

Last year, Conserv taught a spring class to about a dozen interested agents and brokers. This class, called Introduction to Conservation Real Estate, was a primer on environmental issues and how those can dovetail with current real estate practice. This same program was provided in 2006 to the Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS (CAAR).   Virginia DPOR has granted 8 hours of continuing education credit for completion of the classroom portion and 4 hours for completion of the field portion.

Brokers that continued training received certification as an American Conservation Broker. Contact information for these professionals is found on this site.

The curriculum for the BRAAR class will duplicate and expand upon the on-line curriculum. The class will be reformatted from the prototype 2006 and 2007 versions as an all day program, including classroom, field, and technical instruction on use of the Conservation Property marketplace. Instruction will include the following educational modules:

1.      American Conservation Broker (ACB) Overview

2.      ACB Ethics

3.      ACB Interdependent Science

4.      ACB Stewardship Practice

5.      ACB Sales Method

6.      ACB Marketplace

7.      ACB Agreements

8.      ACB Rights and Responsibilities

9.      ACB Bioassessments

10.  ACB Conservation Mapper

It is unknown at this time whether DPOR will provide CE credit for the course. Unlike the prototype courses, certification as an American Conservation Broker is NOT optional.
