Rappahannock River Basin Symposium Flyer – Mark your Calendar – December 9

Just released from the Rappahannock River Basin Commission:

2009 Rappahannock River Basin Symposium

Creating a Bay-friendly Economy

The Rappahannock River Basin Commission, in conjunction with The Virginia Department of Forestry, Conserv, and other partners, will host the 2009 Rappahannock River Symposium called Creating a Bay-friendly Economy. The symposium will be a highly interactive educational opportunity.

This symposium will focus on the creation of the Rappahannock Exchange, a bioregional marketplace to implement government environmental policy through transactions of Bay-friendly products and services, and on the advisory body that will create the Exchange, the Rappahannock Ecosystem Services Council. Discussions will be professionally facilitated using Future Search methodology to accommodate perspectives from the wide diversity of attendees expected at the event.

Unlike other typical environmentally-related conferences, this program is expressly geared to accommodate government, the private non-profit sector, and particularly, the private for-profit sector, in a series of parallel explorations about ways to incentivize river basin water quality goals, as an additional strategy to conservation programs now employed by non-profits and government.
