Special Thanksgiving Audio Podcast with Dr. Ellen Davis, Author of Scripture, Culture, and Agriculture: An Agrarian Reading of The Bible

In this special Thanksgiving broadcast, Dr. Ellen Davis, the Amos Ragan Kearns Distinguished Professor of Bible and Practical Theology at Duke Divinity School, discusses the principles of an agrarian, or ecological economy, as seen by biblical writers of the Old Testament. The approximately hour-long interview also discusses biological diversity, the economics of eating, the importance of the local economy, the character of good work, and urban-rural interdependence.

    Thanks for Shring this with us. Everything that Ellen Davis is talking about.. the fragility of the land for ancient (and modern day) Israel is directly applicable… and very real…now. This is a real wakeup call….for us all.

    Thanks for sharing this with us. It makes me want to consider re- food: … “Lets take back the power that we have lost… to these mega Agra businesses..” We should be growing some of our own food …even if it is a small, Victory-type garden. 1 by 1 – we can have a large impact and raise the bar for quality. Prices might lower to make food more available and affordable.
