Conserv begins work to develop Optimum Environmental Expenditure (OEE) Model for South Fork Rivanna River Reservoir

Early work has now begun on the South Fork Rivanna Optimum Environmental Expenditure (OEE) Model. The Model will provide a quantitative process to compare the cost of pollution reduction gained through natural infrastructure (conservation practices) vs. the cost of pollution reduction gained through built infrastructure (dredging, etc.). This project will help provide one of the processes necessary for implementation of the Rappahannock River Basin Commission’s implementation of a watershed-based pollution management entity pilot project in the Rappahannock River Basin beginning in 2011 – a means to compare the efficiency of alternative pollution management solutions. The current contract for this Phase I Initiative will continue through 2012.
