Bay Friendly Yard Meeting Set for Tuesday, March 29 at National Wildlife Federation in Reston, Virginia

Bay Friendly Yard Exploratory Meeting

Tuesday, March 29

10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

National Wildlife Federation

Reston, Virginia

After months of preparation, Conserv, in partnership with the Rappahnanock River Basin Commission, the National Wildlife Federation, Gentle Gardener Green Design, + Partners will convene to explore the financial and conservation benefits of a Bay Friendly Yard. The idea is simple – conversion of lawn to woody yard may reduce nutrient pollution more cost effectively in suburban areas than stormwater retrofits. The Bay Friendly Yard is one of several Trust for Clean Water Economy demonstration projects now under development in the Rappahannock River Basin – others include the Nutrient Neutral Highway and Fredericksburg-Caroline County-A.P. Hill Optimum Energy/Environmental Efficiency projects.
