Rappahannock River Basin Commission Non-point Source Work Group to Become Technical Committee with focus on Trust for Clean Water Economy

On Wednesday, March 30, at 10 a.m., at the George Washington Regional Commission Conference Room, the former Rappahannock River Basin Nonpoint Source Work Group (RRBC NPSWG) will meet for the first time in 2011 as a new Technical Committee. The Committee’s goals are:

to facilitate discussions across sectors (wastewater, stormwater, on-site, agriculture and forestry) to continue the RRBC’s push to have Ches-Bay water quality improvement investments based on the most cost and pollution reduction efficient practices available.  This will require working across sectors and that will require being open to new ways of thinking and to breaking down barriers.

A driving force force for this change is the advent of the Trust for a Clean Water Economy Initiative.  Implementation of the idea behind the Trust, to leverage a pollution reduction cap into economic development- will require the best thinking of the best minds, spanning the public and private for profit and not for profit sectors in the mid-atlantic.
