SoilKeepers works with Central Virginia landowners to complete fall site prep. for 2017 quail and pollinator meadows

Somerset, VA – SoilKeepers preparing field for spring meadow establishment through winter wheat cover crop using Atchison no-till drill. The meadow will be established for quail and pollinator habitat along the Rapidan River. Species were selected not only for wildlife but also for landowner recreational value – designed for good meadow site lines, horse riding, and great smells (licorice and others) (see below). Thanks to the Perdue Family for supporting this work and to Winslow Fence and Farm, Logan Collins (Oakencroft Farm), and Orange-Madison Coop for assistance with this project.
