Community Wood Energy Program Expands Staff

The American Climate Partners is pleased to announce the hiring of two consultants to assist with the energy program.

Betty Dixon is a social worker and entrepreneur with over 25 years’ experience providing community based services throughout Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic.  After a stint in both the public and private sector, Betty co-founded Virginia’s first state-wide intensive in-home child and family counseling agency, which she grew and managed through an acquisition and IPO into a $1 billion dollar company.  Having returned to her 3rd-generation Madison County dairy farm, she is now a Master Naturalist and board member with Rural Madison.  Betty will be assisting the Virginia Community Wood Energy Program in understanding regional cultural bias related to wood energy adoption and developing strategies for community engagement.

Ed Sontag has also joined ACP to assist the Community Wood Energy Program.  Ed brings to ACP over 25 years of experience in the forest products industry in Florida, North Carolina and Virginia and he possesses a deep understanding of the wood pellet market.  Ed will provide support to Betty and assist the wood energy program in growing the biomass boiler and wood pellet supply network to provide prospective wood energy users turnkey solutions to their energy savings and sustainability efforts.
